How to clean the filters of an extractor hood
First, carefully remove the hood filter . It should come off easily, look for a tab or piece that will allow you to remove it as each model is different. Fill a bucket or sink with very hot water and soap (or a degreasing product, if you prefer).
Place the filter in the soapy water and let it soak for at least ten minutes . You will then see that most of the dirt will have softened, making it easier to remove the rest with a soft scrubber and soap. When completely clean, rinse well with warm water and dry with a clean cloth or kitchen paper. In modern hoods, the aluminum or stainless steel filter can be washed in the dishwasher, a much more convenient and faster option.
Put the filters back into the range hood. Remember that you must clean the filter thoroughly at least once a month for this part to work properly. Our recommendation is that, every time you cook, remove dirt with a soft cloth to prevent it from accumulating. Daily maintenance is your best ally!
Recirculation hoods , which are usually installed in kitchens where there is no smoke exhaust pipe and which we have already talked about before, have a grease filter, which you can clean normally, and active carbon filters to purify the air. These filters must be replaced with new ones every so often, check the manufacturer's instructions (usually about four to six months). Remember to check the filter measurements before purchasing it.
